Dear Friends,
It is an honor for me to serve as your President of the newly formed Sivagiri Foundation of Washington DC (SFWDC). SFWDC follows the principles and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru. As a Founding Member and President, I promise that this association will be run democratically without the influence of any particular group or interest. It is my primary goal to increase membership so that the Association will become stronger. My ultimate plan is to establish a permanent place to gather on a regular basis and to establish an educational facility for the benefit of our youth. Guru’s philosophy is that if you wish to uplift society, the only way is to spread education.
Although we live in a technologically and scientifically advanced society, conflicts and divisions based on religion and caste persist. In this context, the teachings of Sri Narayana Guru hold even greater relevance today. According to Guru, all religions advocate the same principles of “Peace,” “Unity,” and “Spirituality.” It is important to promote Guru’s concept of one caste, one God, and one religion. Through this message, we can redefine the role of religion in social life. Religion should be aimed at the well-being of all humanity, and humanity should not be subservient to religion. We must strive to promote the enduring significance and future prospects of Guru’s messages.
I am glad that within a short period of time, we were able to get tax exempt status for our association and our own Bylaws are ready to implement. It was necessary to create a website to promote Guru’s teachings and showcase our activities in the world and I would like to thank all those who contributed to its creation. Let us all work together for this common cause, keeping our differences at bay, as God created each one of us differently, but with a purpose.
